Betty Bain 1930-2016
Betty J. Bain, 85, formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
She was born Aug. 23, 1930, north of Fostoria, the daughter of Cleo and Bertha Shehi Webster. She was the youngest of five sisters, Eva Holt, Clarice Cade, Esther Havens, Ardeva Gibson and Francis Schmidt, and one brother, Lyle Webster.
Betty worked at a grocery store in Holton after she was married. She later cooked at the Whiting School and then Jackson Heights school after consolidation. She also owned and operated the Whiting Grocery Store.
She married Wesley Aaron Bain on Dec. 14, 1952 at Westmoreland. He died Feb. 28, 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Bain, Whiting, and Bryson Bain and wife Sherri, Holton; a daughter, Cindy Christian-Cormier and husband Wade, Hoyt; and two grandchildren, Aaron Bain and Travis Christian and partner Torri Marney.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Monday) at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery at Whiting.
