Angela Masquat 1973-2026

Angela Kaye “Jubby-Kwe” Masquat, 53, Mayetta, died Tues­day, July 14, 2026, at her home.

She was born Feb. 22, 1973, in Topeka, the daughter of Curtis P. “Nin-We” and Julia K. Harrison Masquat. She graduated from Roy­al Valley High School in 1991.

Ms. Masquat was an administra­tive manager for Prairie Band Potawatomi Early Childhood Edu­cation Center for several years. She was a homemaker after her health declined.

She was a member of the Drum Religion and the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include two daugh­ters, Santana Noriega, Mayetta, and Simone Noriega, Topeka; a son, Marquis Hernandez, Mayetta; two sisters, Josie “Mitchi” Masquat, Mayetta, and Janelle “Zahwee” Masquat, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren, Keyan, Silas, Franklin, Danis, Kendrick, Bem-O-Ko, Nepahkwah, Honey, Jaelyn and Angelo and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Julia Masquat; a sister, Naomi “Din” Masquat; and a brother, Elliot “Wah” Masquat.

Drum and wake services were held Friday evening, July 17 at the Danceground Building. Burial was held Saturday afternoon, July 18 in Masquat Cemetery, 7510 182nd Rd., Mayetta.
