Amy Spiker 1956-2026
Amy Lou Spiker, 69, of Holton, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at her home with family by her side. She had fought a long, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 19, 1956, in Winchester, the daughter of Ernest F. and Patricia F. (Pickett) Wichman.
Amy graduated from Holton High School in 1974. She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide, activities director and director of social services at Medicalodges Jackson County (formerly Jackson County Nursing Home), retiring after 31 years. Her family, work family and friends who became family were of most importance to her.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She married the love of her life, Jared Spiker, in December of 1986. They celebrated more than 39 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Jared, of the home; two dogs, Petunia and Buddy; a sister, Carol Searles (Rob Rolin) of Denison; a brother, Kevin Wichman (Sandy) of Circleville; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Wichman of Everest and Sue Wichman of Holton; a bonus daughter, Tara Elliott of Holton; a bonus grandson, Kayden Elliott; a bonus granddaughter, Adalie Minde; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Patricia Wichman; an adopted son, Vance Spiker; and three brothers, Dale, Allen and Verlin Wichman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 10 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Amy will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
