Clara Gibson 1942-2026
Clara Louise Gibson, 83, of Holton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at her home with family by her side.
She was born Aug. 15, 1942, in Circleville, the daughter of Herbert E. and Elsie M. (Wade) Wells. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1960 and was crowned Homecoming Queen three times.
Clara was the Jane of all trades, where she wore many hats. She worked at the Holton Sale Barn during sale days. Clara was known for being able to fix a tractor, re-upholster a whole couch, then turn around and cook a full meal for her family. Clara also enjoyed taxidermy for more than 20 years.
Most of all, she loved being a devout farmwife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, Holton Bowling League, fishing and horses. Clara’s work ethic and spirit will continue on in her family’s lives forever…
On July 5, 1960, Clara was united in marriage to Gary Dale Gibson in Topeka. They shared more than 65 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Gary, of the home; a son, Rick Gibson (Kay) of Holton; a daughter, Penny Parker (Tom) of Holton; a sister, Nelda M. Rolfe of Holton; and three grandchildren, Jason Parker (Madeline), Becca Gibson and Blayne Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Elsie Wells; and a brother, Ronald “Pete” Wells.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
