Sue Hallauer 1943-2025

Marilyn “Sue” Hallauer, 82, of Holton, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka with family by her side.

She was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Meriden, the daughter of Harry Alonzo and Zora Constance (Garner) Martin.

Sue graduated from Meriden High School in 1961. In her early years, she worked for the State of Kansas in the Kansas Employment Security Division. Sue and her husband owned a farm in Jackson County for more than 50 years. She also owned and operated, alongside her husband and sons, Hallauer Oil Co. and 66 Food Plaza for more than 24 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton and, for more than 20 years, was a crossing guard for Holton Schools at Highway 75.

Sue married Ray Dean Hallauer on Nov. 27, 1966, in Meriden. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2022, after 55 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Zora Martin; a sister, Peggy Long; and a brother, Donald Martin.

Survivors include her two sons, Brian Hallauer (Dana) of Topeka and Troy Hallauer of Holton; a brother, Michael Martin (Debbie) of Meriden; two grandchildren, Gracelyn and Benett; four stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family inurnment will be held at the Holton Cemetery.
