Joan McDaniel 1929-2025
Joan Obley McDaniel, 95, died Jan. 10, 2025.
She was born Oct. 4, 1929, to Floyd Marion Hanson and Alice Lucille (Lydick) Hanson, Walnut Township in Brown County.
She attended Pleasant Hill, moved to Hamlin at age 7 and attended Hamlin Grade School. She graduated as valedictorian from Hamlin Rural High School in 1947 and attended Highland Jr. College, 1947-1948.
She married classmate Victor D. Obley in 1948 in Morrill. She later married Walter J. McDaniel in 1984. They were members of the Sawdusters Club.
She retired from Jostens as a payroll clerk.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, reading, garage sales and refinishing furniture.
Survivors include children, Deborah Kay (Obley) Davies, Jeffrey Bert Obley and wife Gunda and Vicki Jo (Obley) Hearrell and husband Robert; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and brother Gerald Hanson and wife Louise.
She will be buried in Hamlin Cemetery, Hamlin, beside her mother and father.
