Linda Whiteman 1950-2024
Linda Christine Whiteman, 74, of Mayetta, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was born Oct. 10, 1950 in Beloit, the daughter of Isaac Roscoe and Vivian V. (Keating) Gillett.
She graduated from Mayetta High School in 1969. Linda worked for more than 20 years at Oldham’s Meat Packing in Holton. Most of all, Linda dedicated her time taking care of her household where she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
On May 27, 1967 she was united in marriage to Stephen “Steve” George Whiteman in Arma. They shared more than 56 years of marriage before Steve’s passing on Dec. 13, 2023.
Survivors include her four children, Kim Tyler (Chris) of Manhattan, Scott Whiteman (Emily) of Leavenworth, Daniel Whiteman (Jodie) of Mayetta and Keeli Kufta (Rich) of Topeka; a sister, Sheilia Gillett of Atwood; two brothers-in-law, Galen Whiteman of Olathe and John Sanders (Donna) of Topeka; seven grandchildren, Isaac, Chloe, Brock, Caleb, Zach, Ashley and Zach; and nine great-grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve, and a brother, Harold Gillett.
Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Cremation will follow per Linda’s wishes.
