Tom Schleif 1965-2024
Tommy “Tom” Schleif, 59, Corning, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at Brookfiend Post Acute in Topeka after a battle with cancer.
He was born June 15, 1965, in Seneca, the son of Harold Schleif and Joann Ford McDonald. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1983, then earned his degree and training in law enforcement.
Mr. Schleif worked as an associate chief of security with EMI Corporation for 10 years and worked for more than 20 years in corrections for the State of Kansas. He also worked two years for private contractors for Federal Corrections and four years for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in corrections and as a reserve commander and part-time deputy. He currently worked part-time as a clerk at Arcada Liquor in Holton.
Survivors include his mother, Joann McDonald, Topeka; a brother, Tim Schleif and wife Jess, Topeka; a nephew, Garrett Schleif, Topeka; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and adopted nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at Corning Cemetery in Corning.
