JB Smith 1932-2024

JB Smith, 91, Tonganoxie, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 7 at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie. Burial was held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

JB was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Benton, Ark., the son of Jesse and Ellen (Catton) Smith. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and was a longtime member of Tonganoxie VFW Post #9271. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad.

He was preceded in death by three wives, Joyce Smith, Lois Smith and Nona Smith. He was also preceded by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, four stepsons, a stepdaughter, four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Madeline (Kenneth) Flewelling, Holton; sons, Barry Lee Smith, Kansas City, and Jason Bradley Smith; sister, Alene Glosson, Benton, Ark.; three grandchildren, Christy Fitzpatrick, Philip Flewelling and Casey Smith; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; and 29 step-greatgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations in his name to the Tonganoxie VFW Post #9271.
