Meet Your Doctors: Dr. Caitlin Beall

Although an animal lover by nature, Caitlin Beall, 30, a doctor of veterinarian medicine at Banner Creek Animal Hospital, said she didn’t always picture herself as a veterinarian.

“I had thought about becoming a doctor, but I still wanted to spend time outside,” Beall said. “After following a veterinarian my sophomore year of college, I decided it was a good fit.”   

Beall has worked with Dan Degenhardt, DVM, at the animal hospital for a year and a half.

A native of Hoxie, she graduated from Kansas Sate University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

She worked for the Holton animal hospital for a year before going to work at Animal Heath Center in Washington. When the opportunity to come back to Banner Creek arose, she took it and has been back since July 7. 

“I like the friendliness of the people here,” she said.

She and her husband, Oliver, have a son, Ira, who was born in February. The family has a cat, a dog, two horses and a herd of Hereford cattle on a ranch southwest of Holton.

Her hobbies include running, reading and gardening, and she is a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka.

If she could give just one piece of medical advice, she said it would be to make sure your animal gets their booster shots.

“When you vaccinate animals, make sure they get their booster shots because initial shots without boosters aren’t much good,” she said.
