Phillip Wingender Jr. 1968-2024

Phillip J. Wingender Jr., 55, died Friday, May 17, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.

He was born June 16, 1968, at Leavenworth, the son of Phillip J. Wingender Sr. and JoAnn Perry Wingender.

Mr. Wingender served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Midway in the Persian Gulf War. He had worked in different manufacturing jobs and was also a truck driver, mostly for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of the VFW.

He married Crystal Dover. They divorced.

Survivors include a son, Alex Wingender; his mother, JoAnn Wingender; a brother, Michael Wingender and wife Jennifer; a sister, Barbara Parker and husband Ed; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Cynthia J. Wingender; and a niece, Taylor J. Pettitt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in O’Neill, Neb. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
