Nancy Patch 1938-2024
Nancy Orlean Durham Patch, 85, left for heaven on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2024. She was a former resident of Topeka and Casey County, Ky.
Nancy was born on May 18, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, Ky., to Henry McClure and Bessie (Hasty) McClure. She married Marva Clayton Durham on Aug. 2, 1956. Nancy loved flying with Clayton. He preceded her in passing on May 14, 1998.
Nancy reconnected with John Patch, an old family friend. They were married on Feb. 12, 2000, in her hometown of Liberty, Ky., and lived there until 2015 when they moved to Topeka.
Nancy and John rode their Harley Davidson bike and trike more than 200,000 miles through 47 states and into Canada. They made wonderful memories as they traveled with friends and family and enjoyed spending their winters in Parr, Texas. John proceeded her in death on Oct. 27, 2023.
Nancy was an avid quilter and seamstress, a wonderful cook and baker, and she loved collecting dolls. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing a laugh with everyone. She had a deep faith and she and John attended the Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka and the Mount Olive Christian Church in Liberty, Ky. Nancy worked as a nurse’s assistant.
She is survived by a brother, Denneth “Red” McClure, Franklin, Ind.; a sister, Sue (McClure) Maness, Salem, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy will be missed by her bonus children, Travis Patch (Carrie) of Holton, Tim Patch (Kristi) of Topeka, Troy Patch (Shelby) of Lawrence, Lois Alford (Greg) of Topeka, Lisa DeVader of Holton, Lori Smith (Tony) of Topeka and Jim and Alane Bloom of Goff; 20 bonus grandkids; and 24 bonus great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husbands; brothers, Charles, Jim, Carl and Ronnie McClure; and sisters, Ann James, Nora McClure and Glenna Jones.
Nancy will be buried at Salyers Cemetery in Yosemite, Ky.
