Rebecca Cunningham 1954-2023

Rebecca June (Austin) Cunningham, 69, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at The University of Kansas Medical Center after a hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Lawrence, the daughter of Clinton and Neva Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two older brothers, Elmer “Bud” Ray Gardner and Albert “Roy” LeRoy Gardner; and an older sister, Kay Gardner.

Rebecca is survived by two sons and two daughters, Carla (Scroggins) Cunningham (Mike), Charles Cunningham (Charity), Rebecca “Jill” (Scroggins) Winegar (Charlie) of Holton and William Cunningham (Jordan); a brother, Carl Gardner (Barbara); 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many children she has adopted as her own over the years.

Rebecca wished to be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Leintz Funeral Home in Leavenworth is in charge of arrangements.
