Norma Leach 1930-2022

Norma Doris Leach, 92, of Holton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, at Medicalodges Jackson County.

She was born Feb. 4, 1930 in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of Alexander V. and Ethel Kinnel. 

Norma graduated from Grossmont High School in 1947 in La Mesa, Calif. In her early years, she worked at Wall Street. Norma was a homemaker and military wife, stationed in Hawaii, New York, California, New Jersey, Arizona and Kansas. 

She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, cooking and sewing. 

In 1951, Norma married Albert Schuh. They later divorced. To this union they shared two children, Jon Albert and Susan. Norma married Lexie Leach in 1958; he preceded her in death in 2013 after 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Ethel Kinnel; a son, Jon Albert Schuh; and two brothers, Jack and Lee Kinnel.

Survivors include a son, Al Specht (Jan) of El Cajon, Calif.; a daughter, Susan Richardson of Mayetta; a sister, Alene Wittkop of La Mesa, Calif.; five grandchildren, Al Jr. Specht, Jamie Fender, Matthew Schuh, Dustin Schuh and Brian Schuh; nine great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Roberta Schuh of Mayetta. 

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements. To leave a special message for the family, please visit www.mercerfuneralhomes.com
