Barbara Niemeyer 1938-2022

Barbara Ann Bessett Niemeyer, age 83, of Yatesville, Ga., passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

She was born Sept. 28, 1938. She grew up in Kansas, daughter of the late Wilford Bessett and Lena Baker Bessett.

Barbara met and married her husband, Walter, while he was in the military. They moved to Georgia when he was stationed at Fort Benning. She worked as a procurement clerk at Fort Gillem for many years before retiring. Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Niemeyer; daughter, Tammy; son-in-law, Randy Dash; great granddaughter, Hanna; and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughters and a son-in-law: Sue Dash, Charlene Garrett and Laura and Scott Smith; grandchildren, Teresa, Jessica, Ashley, Michelle, Michael, Joshua, Tiffany, Casey, Kaleigh, Summer and Jordon; great-grandchildren, Jaydea, Abby, Paige, Anna, Denim, Sophia, Fysher and Hayston; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service will be held. Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon, Ga., is assisting the family with arrangements.
