Roy Kranz 1938-2022

Roy Kranz, 84, Circleville, died Friday, April 22, 2022, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born March 17, 1938, at the family’s home south of Circleville. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1956.

Mr. Kranz served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for the Jackson County Road and Bridge Department for a total of 31 years. He had also worked for Hamm Construction and had owned and operated Kranz Soil Conservation. He retired from Jackson County on Dec. 24, 2021.

He was a member of Circleville Christian Church, Circleville Masonic Lodge No. 20, AF&AM, and had served on the Circleville City Council for eight years.

He married Beverly J. Robison on July 5, 1968, at Circleville Christian Church. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Charles Kranz and wife Doreen, Topeka; two daughters, Debbie Kranz, Topeka, and Kathy Kranz, Holton; four grandchildren, Shawna Blackwood and husband Brock, Brandon DeVader and wife Jessica, Chuck Kranz and wife Ashley and Brooke Johnson and husband Paul; and 10 great-grandchildren, Cori, Carson, Gage, Madison, Brynley, Paul Cody, Liam, Tate, Jadie and Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Ann Swindale; a granddaughter, Felicia Anne Kranz, who was stillborn; and a grandson, Joshua Earl Kranz, in 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 at Circleville Christian Church. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Circleville Cemetery. Mr. Kranz will lie in state after noon Monday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where family and friends will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
