Marvin Hossfeld 1936-2022

Marvin Fredrick Hossfeld passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at the age of 85.

He was born in Horton and lived in Powhattan, Netawaka and Holton, and spent 36 years in Topeka.

Marvin worked at Goodyear in Topeka for 42 years and was a member of United Steelworkers Local 307. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard for nine years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Reva (Searles) Hossfeld. Reva and Marvin met at a church youth group in Netawaka and were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka on Feb. 10, 1957. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka.

Marvin enjoyed traveling and felt fortunate he was able to do so with his family. He also enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with the people he loved.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen (Ahrens) Hossfeld, and his five siblings. He is survived by his four children: Lonnie Hossfeld of Derby, Kirby Wittenbach of Topeka, Perry Hossfeld (wife Pam) of Charleston, S.C., and Kelly Killinger of Topeka. He was also grandfather to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Marvin’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 S.W. Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS. A lunch gathering for family and friends will follow at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, 125 S.E. Airport Drive, Topeka.

The family requests that everyone attending the service wear facemasks.
