Roy Murray 1951-2021

Roy Dean Murray, 70, Soldier, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at his home.

He was born May 27, 1951, in Topeka, the son of Roy Alfred and Clare Dean Byler Murray. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1971 and had lived in the Soldier community since 2001.

Mr. Murray was a certified welder. He worked on oil rigs in Louisiana and worked for Allis Chalmers in Topeka for more than 10 years.

He married Karen Sue Owings on Feb. 1, 1997, at Buck’s Grove United Methodist Church. She survives.

Other survivors include a sister, Cheryl Ann Henderson, Topeka; two brothers, Robert Mack Murray, Topeka, and Thomas Milton Murray, Ozawkie; and a brother-in-law, David Duane Owings and wife Debbie, Grand Ridge, Fla.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
