Kathleen Johnston 1938-2020

Kathleen Faye (Brownlow) Johnston, 81, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Holton, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1938 in Denison, the daughter of Jesse and Rachel (Carpenter) Brownlow. She graduated from Denison High School in 1956.

On Sept. 1, 1956, in Holton, Kathleen married Frank Robert Johnston. They shared more than 43 years of marriage before Frank passed away on Feb. 20, 1999.

Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent most of her time taking care of her children and she will dearly miss all of her grandchildren that she loved so much. 

She is survived by five children, Marcia Jones (Gerald) of Hoyt, Karen McClintock (Jeff Fortenberry) of Auburn, Dianna Romine of Cheyenne, Wyo., Deanna Johnston (Rick Mayber), Brighton, Colo., and Craig Johnston, Kenai, Alaska; two sisters, Linda Brownlow and Shirley Horr, both of Holton; two brothers, Donald Brownlow (Linda Lou) of Mayetta and Dale Brownlow of Topeka; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank; three sisters, Doris Armstrong, Evelyn Weatherhead and Marilyn May; a son-in-law, Neal Romine; and a brother-in-law, Don Horr.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7 in Holton Cemetery.
