Deanna Mercer 1939-2020
Deanna Joy Mercer, 80, Topeka, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born April 21, 1939, in Mayetta, the daughter of Edmund and Anna Archdale Maines.
She graduated from high school and had attended training for the federal government.
Mrs. Mercer retired as a federal employee for the U.S. Air Force and had also worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs and Internal Revenue Service. She had lived in the Topeka area since 1999. She had also lived in Texas, Turkey, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama.
She was a member of the Citizen Band Potawatomi Nation and Assiniboine Tribe of Fort Peck, Mont.
She married Richard E. Mercer on April 15, 1961, in Andalusia, Ala. He died Feb. 3, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Eugene Mercer and Richard Eugene Mercer.
Survivors include several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Shipshee Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
