Xavier Sirius Venkatsammy
Xavier Sirius Venkatsammy passed away during the endoscopic laser ablation surgery attempting to save his and his twin’s life on Nov. 6, 2018, at The Mother Baby Center at Abbott Northwestern and Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. He was cremated at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, N.D., after his birth on Feb. 27, 2019.
At the time of the emergency surgery, both Xavier and his identical twin brother, Rafael Tiberius, were in congestive heart failure related to stage 4 twin-twin transfusion syndrome. Their case developed unusually rapidly; twin-twin transfusion syndrome has no known causes.
The dedicated staff at Altru Obstetrics, including Dr. Collette Lessard, at Sanford Maternal-Fetal Medicine, including Dr. Timothy Beiswinger, and at the Mother Baby Center, including Drs. Snowise and Fisher and nurses Jess and Deb, among many others, did their best to save both precious babies and comfort their parents. Their work is appreciated every day.
Xavier means savior or new house, and Sirius means bright, shining star. Much like Sirius Black, he was taken from us too soon.
He is survived, loved and mourned deeply by his parents, Justin Venkatsammy and Dr. RaeAnn Anderson. He is also missed by his identical twin brother Rafael Tiberius Venkatsammy. They miss him every day and know he would have been just as beautiful, curious and loving as his brother. The family lives in Grand Forks, N.D.
Also mourning his loss are his grandparents, Parsram and Lalita Venkatsammy of Olathe and David and Sara Anderson of Circleville, along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined in the spring of 2020. His grandmother, Sara Anderson, will be sponsoring a memorial tree to be planted in the Park District of Grand Forks, N.D.
