Area principals to be honored

Two local principals are being honored by the Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals, it has been announced.

Rod Wittmer, Holton High School principal, is being recognized as the KASSP Area I High School Principal of the Year honoree.

Jackson County resident David Coufal, Hiawatha Middle School principal, is being recognized as the KASSP Area I Middle Level Principal of the Year honoree.

KASSP is an organization of more than 375 secondary school principals from across the state. Both Wittmer and Coufal were nominated and selected by peer principals.

Candidates are evaluated on their school leadership, school improvement, dedication, professionalism and service to students.

The awards will be presented on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Wichita Airport during the Kansas Principals Conference awards reception at 5:30 p.m.
