Marcus Fiedler 1946-2017

 

Marcus John Fiedler, 70, of Toledo, Iowa, a proud United States Air Force veteran, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System in Iowa City, Iowa.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, Iowa, with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, Iowa. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Cody, Wyo.

Marcus was born on Dec. 15, 1946, in Mayetta, the son of Martin and Margaret (Dilts) Fiedler. After high school, Marcus joined the United States Air Force and then served his country for more than 29 years. He liked watching John Wayne movies and westerns. In his later years, Marcus enjoyed daily trips to the Big-T Maid-Rite for coffee. He loved the beauty of Wyoming. Marcus was devoted to his faith and the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his children, Mary Jo (Doug) Cherveny of Toledo, Iowa, and Armond (Sylena) Fiedler of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Derek (Meghan) Cherveny, Danielle (Bryan Johnson) Cherveny, Destiny (Amanda) Cherveny, Daryn Cher­veny, Caleb Fiedler and Adalynne Fiedler; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Johnson, Madison Johnson, and Baby C due in August; broth­ers, Dave (Charlene) Fiedler of Holton, Dan (Venita) Fiedler of Holton, Bernard (Marge) Fiedler of St. Mary's and Bill (Virginia) Fiedler of St. Francis; and several nieces and nephews.  

Preceding him in death were his parents and a grandson, Dylan Ryan Cherveny.

A memorial fund has been es­tablished. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, Iowa is as­sisting the family with the ar­rangements.
