William Hundley 1928-2017
A memorial service for William Eugene Hundley, 88, Lawrence, was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died June 24, 2017, at his home.
William was born on July 27, 1928 in Fairview, the son of Ernest and Gladys (Spicer) Hundley.
He worked for Milrite Carpenters until his retirement on Dec. 1, 1993. He was a member of the Carpenter Local 644 in Pekin, Ill., and Masonic Lodge #156 in Delavan, Ill. He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He married Mina J. Place on Nov. 27, 1987 in Eudora. She preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2012.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Elms (Charlie), Lawrence, Donna (Tweet) Manker (Greg), Baldwin City, and Kathy Mallonee (Harold), Lawrence; two sons, Jerry Luther (Joy), Lecompton, and Steve Luther, Pomona; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Merwin, The Colony, Texas, and Norma Jean Farmer (Kenny), Holton; two sisters-in-law, Marge Hundley and Loretta Hundley, both of Holton; and his beloved Bichon dog, Buddy, his companion of four years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane Hundley, Jerry Hundley and Stanley Hundley; son, Randy Luther; and daughters, Janice Blackman and Lita Bateson.
