Dusty Christian 1972-2017
Dustin “Dusty” Duane Christian of Cordes Lakes, Ariz., formerly of Netawaka, passed Saturday, May 13, 2017.
He was born at Holton Hospital on Dec. 10, 1972, to Steve and Ginger. He attended Jackson Heights schools, graduating in 1991. He completed auto mechanics courses at Kaw Area Technical School and worked as a mechanic at many Toyota dealerships in Topeka, Denver, and Phoenix.
His love and encyclopedic knowledge of motorcycles convinced him to follow his passion and enroll as a student at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) in Phoenix, where he was awarded “Top Tech” certification at graduation.
Dusty worked at Topeka Harley Davidson before accepting a position at MMI as an instructor. His professional life included multiple visits to Harley Davidson corporate offices in Milwaukee to offer “real world” advice and to take part in advanced training.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry, of the home; parents Steve and Ginger, Topeka; brothers Troy (Silas), Asbury Park, N.J., and Todd (Liz), Fairview Heights, Ill.; grandmother Dorothy Beightel, Holton; parents-in-law Richard and Monica Locke, Waurika, Okla.; stepchildren Mark, Cody, Stephanie and Erick; step-grandchildren Monica, Myla and William; nephews Samuel, Caleb and Jonah; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, friends and fellow riders. He is preceded in death by grandparents Bill and Betty Christian and Gerald Beightel.
