Arch Brenner 1931-2017

 

Charles Robert “Arch” Brenner, 85, Holton, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Holton Community Hos­pital.

He was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Arrington, the son of Ralph Adam and Elsie Mae Auxier Brenner. He attended Arrington Grade School and Effingham High School and later received his GED.

Mr. Brenner served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He later worked for more than 40 years for the Kansas Department of Transportation as an engineer and in maintenance.

He was a member of the Larkin­burg Christian Church. He served as manager and secretary of the Larkinburg Cemetery from 1964 to 2017 and was a member of AF&AM Masonic Lodge in Ne­tawaka. He was also a member of Odd Fellows, American Legion Post 44 and a life member of VFW Post 1367, all in Holton.

He married Mary Ann Logsdon on June 18, 1954. She died Sept. 27, 1999. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Charlene Brenner; and four brothers, Wilbur, Junior, Don and George Brenner.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Jenson and husband Brad­ley, Holton; four grandchildren, Andrew Jenson and wife Danielle, Amy Mellenbruch and husband Troy, Betsy Jenson and husband Mike and Zach Jenson; and seven great-grandchildren, Issiah, Walker and Carter Jenson, Ahnna and Cammee Mellenbruch and Preston and Parker Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Fu­neral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Larkinburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Larkinburg Christian Church or Heart of Jackson Hu­mane Society, sent in care of Mer­cer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
