Larry Bowser 1938-2017
Larry C. Bowser, 79, Oskaloosa, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Horton, the son of William J. and Margaret L. Kinkade Bowser. He graduated from Holton High School in 1956 and from Kansas State University in 1960 with a degree in accounting.
Larry was president of the State Bank of Oskaloosa from 1974 until he retired in 2015. He had worked at the Denison State Bank from 1960-1966 and the State Bank of Stanley from 1966-1974. He was a member of the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church.
He married Barbara Mercer on Aug. 23, 1959, at Holton.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Johnny and Gary “G.M.” Bowser; and two sisters, Marjorie Gilliland and Betty Joan McAllister.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, of the home; his son, Eric Bowser, and his daughter, Julie (Monte) McGinnis, all of Oskaloosa; and five grandchildren, Whitney, Brock, Adam, Braden and Erin.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17 at the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be held in Holton Cemetery.
