Darlene Beatty 1951-2016

 

Darlene Beatty, 65, Onaga, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Medicalodges Jackson County.

She was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Hurricane, W. Va., the daughter of Arnold Kellison and Geraldine An­gelina Campbell Clagg. She gradu­ated from Hurricane High School in 1969 and later earned an associ­ate degree in early education from Southwest Community College.

Mrs. Beatty was a homemaker. She had lived in the Onaga com­munity since 2007 and had previ­ously lived in Omaha, Neb., Cre­ston, Iowa, and in West Virginia.

She was a founding member of Shalom Baptist Church in Fraziers Bottom, W. Va., and was active in P.T.A.

She married Bruce J. Beatty on July 19, 1969, in Hurricane, W. Va. He survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Melissa Woods and husband John, Omaha, Neb., and Stacy Perry and husband Mark, Missouri City, Texas; two sisters, Linda Snyder and husband Bob, Lebanon, Pa., and Tina Payne and husband David, Nitro, W. Va.; a brother, Gary Clagg and wife Bar­bara, Hurricane, W.Va.; and four grandchildren, Sydney, Emily and Sophie Woods and Aidan Bruce Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dwight Clagg.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery in Whiting.
