Nazarene church members looking at possible move
Members of New Life Church of the Nazarene are looking into the possibility of purchasing the building at 100 Topeka Ave. in Holton that formerly served as the Merry Manor Nursing Center, it has been reported.
Pastor Kevin Kneisley said Tuesday that church members are interested in purchasing the building, which has remained vacant since 2007. The building is owned by Medicalodges, Inc.
Kneisley said that an environmental study needs to be performed in the building before church members decide whether they should move forward with the purchase.
Church members have discussed using the facility as a church and a parsonage and possible transitional housing for families in need, Kneisley said.
“We’re just ready to move forward and serve the community in better ways,” Kneisley said.
The New Life Church of the Nazarene is currently located at 219 New York Ave. in Holton. The church has resided at that location since the 1950s, but the building itself is 125 years old, it was reported.
