Unaffiliated Coleman, Lutz seek county commission positions

Ed Lutz of Holton and John Coleman of Denison have both filed by petition for positions on the Jackson County Commission, it has been reported.

Both Lutz and Coleman are unaffiliated with any political party, it was reported.

Lutz has filed for the second district commission seat, and Coleman has filed for the third district seat. The deadline for an unaffiliated resident to file by petition was Monday.

In the Nov. 8 general election, Lutz will face incumbent Republican Janet Zwonitzer. Zwonitzer is currently serving her first four-year term representing the second district, which includes Banner and Franklin townships, as well as the city of Holton.

Coleman’s name will be listed on the general ballot alongside incumbent Democrat Bill Elmer and Republican Melvin Bailey.

The third district includes Adrian, Douglas, Lincoln and Washington townships.
