Betty Rieschick 1923-2016
Betty Irene (Capsey) Rieschick, 93, of Soldier, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
She was born April 25, 1923, in Soldier, the daughter of Ella M. Forrest Cook and W.H. “Major” Capsey. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1942.
Betty married Claude Rieschick on April 16, 1944, at her sister Nora Helen Allen-Monroe’s home in rural Soldier. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband most of her life in Soldier. Betty was a member of Soldier United Methodist Church, So & So Club, Women’s Club, F.C. E. Unit and Soldier Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband Claude, of the home; her children, Wayne Rieschick (Theresa) of Soldier, LeRoy Rieschick (Linda) of Soldier, Claudia Long (Dale) of Meriden and Tony Rieschick of Holton; her sisters, Lela Kroh of Kansas City, Mo., and Edwina Pollock of Holton; her grandchildren, Duane, Kindra, Kevin, Lisa, David, Brian, Jennifer, Rebecca, Cory, Eric, Jill, Travis and Aaron; her 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Nora Helen Allen-Monroe, Mary Sourk, Maurine McCorkle and Georgena Miller; and her brother, Kenneth Capsey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Burial will follow in Soldier Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
