Keehn qualifies for Olympic team trials

After a strong performance at the Houston Marathon this past Sunday, Jackson Heights’ alumnus Cory Keehn’s Olympic dream continues.

Keehn finished 29th overall (and 19th among U.S. competitors) in the half-marathon race, completing the course in a time of 1:04:26. Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia won the race, finishing in 1:00:37

More importantly, Keehn’s performance on Sunday put him under the 1:05 qualifying standard and earned him a spot in the USA Olympic Team Trials in the marathon, which will be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 13. His parents are Gary and Megan Keehn.
