Helen Diebolt 1924-2016
Helen Vivian Lockwood Diebolt, 91, Horton, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Atchison Senior Village.
She was born July 13, 1924, in Kennekuk, the daughter of William and Elsie Chain Lockwood. She went to school in the Brush Creek area and graduated from ACCHS in 1942.
Mrs. Diebolt worked for Blish Mize and Company, the Garment Company in Atchison, Benedictine College and at the Horton Hospital for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society and the Horton Hospital Auxiliary.
She married Edward Diebolt on April 17, 1945, at St. Ann’s Church in Effingham. He died June 6, 1969. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Smith.
Survivors include her children, Dwight Diebolt, Horton, Dana Jordan and husband Larry, Liberty Hill, Texas, and David Diebolt and wife Alice, Effingham; four grandchildren, Jennifer Baker, Round Rock, Texas, Melissa Brady and husband Edward, Georgetown, Texas, and David Diebolt Jr. and Adam Diebolt and wife Hayleigh, all of Effingham; and nine great-grandchildren, Skye Evans, James Diebolt, Daniel Brady, Megan Brady, Ryan Baker, Mason Baker, Ryker Diebolt, Alexa Baker and Swayzie Diebolt.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday with visitation to follow at Dishon-Maple- Chaney Mortuary in Horton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann’s Church in Effingham. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
