Dennis McClane 1949-2016

 

Dennis Ray McClane, 66, Hoyt, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.

He was born July 17, 1949, in Holton, the son of Galen McClane and Betty Blue. He graduated from Hoyt High School in 1968.

Mr. McClane was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served with the Seabees in Vietnam. He later worked as a meat cutter in various places. He worked at Falley’s in Topeka for 25 years and at the Country Market in Onaga, and he retired from Dyers Grocery Store in Wamego three years ago.

Mr. McClane was a Catholic and a member of Local 576 meat cut­ter’s union.

He married Monica Foster. They divorced.

Survivors include a son, Jason McClane and wife Becky, Hoyt; a daughter, Shelly Mulanax and hus­band Gary; a brother, Tom McClane and wife Lola, Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Linda Lister, Holton; four grandsons, Dalton, Dylan, Wyatt and Triston; two great-granddaughters, Ava and Lila; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Jim Abbott; and a brother, Richard McClane.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Fri­day at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Burial with military hon­ors will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family and friends will meet from 9 a.m. until service time Friday.
