Holton Community Hospital welcomes first baby of 2016
Kayden Blaise Evans wasn’t due to arrive until about mid-January, according to his mother, Jessica Evans.
But at 4:47 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, Kayden, son of Harley and Jessica Evans of Holton, arrived at Holton Community Hospital as the first baby to be born in Jackson County this year.
“He was ready to come home,” Jessica said of Kayden, who was delivered by Dr. Vance Lassey.
Upon arrival, Kayden weighed seven pounds and six ounces and was 20 inches long, his parents said.
“He looks just like his dad,” Jessica added.
Kayden — whose name was chosen after “a lot of negotiations,” according to Harley — is the first child for Harley and Jessica, who were married last year. The proud parents said he was also welcomed home by three sisters and two brothers.
Maternal grandparents are John and Melinda Critenton of San Antonio, Texas. Paternal grandparents are Tracy and Cara Evans of Hoyt.
Several area businesses made contributions to a gift basket presented to the Evans family following Kayden’s birth, it was reported.
