Food items still needed for Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Most of the food items for Thursday’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner have been donated, according to dinner organizer Freda Galer, but many vegetable items are still needed for the dinner.
“We’ve gotten a lot of calls this last week,” Galer said. “We did get quite a bit.”
Galer also noted that she has plenty of volunteer help for the dinner, to be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday — Thanksgiving Day — at Evangel United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center.
“The first thing I got was the turkey cookers,” she said. “That’s really unusual.”
Food items still needed include six gallons each of green beans, corn, baked beans and sweet potatoes, along with two gallons of instant potatoes, four boxes of stuffing, one fruit salad, two vegetable salads, four pies and 10 cakes.
The annual Thanksgiving dinner, a community tradition since 1985, is open to everyone, regardless of their age, income, residence or religious affiliation.

Monetary donations also are being accepted for the dinner; contact Francis DeVader at 364-2507 for more information.
