Lee Schnacker 1941-2015
Leland W. Schnacker, 74, Mayetta, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1941, at Willard, the son of Everett and Virgie Estabrook Schnacker. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1959.
Mr. Schnacker served as a medic in the U.S. Army in the 1960s. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 35 years and was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of Hoyt United Methodist Church and Steel Workers Local 307 in Topeka.
He married Carol Diane Hannay on May 22, 1964, at Loman Hill United Methodist Church in Topeka. She died Aug. 8, 2011. He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Schnacker.
Survivors include a son, David Schnacker, Mayetta; three daughters, Caren Schnacker and Traci Schnacker, both of Hoyt, and Shelli Vanwagoner and husband Richard, Topeka; two brothers, Darold Schnacker and wife Catherine, Meriden, and Cecil Schnacker and wife Judy, Topeka; a sister, Arliss Douglass, Topeka; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hoyt United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hoyt Cemetery. Mr. Schnacker will lie in state Wednesday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt, where family and friends will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
