Daniel Cunningham 1955-2015
Daniel P. “Murf” Cunningham, 59, of Yukon, Okla., passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015.
Murphy, a beloved and adoring husband, father and brother was surrounded by his loving family as he peacefully joined the Lord and his loved ones in heaven. He endured a very quick and short time with cancer, but was always with high spirits. Murf never complained, he was always smiling and still telling us stories and to the very end wanted to take care of his wife, Debbie.
He was born Nov. 23, 1955, in Atchison and raised on 80 acres near Effingham, where he and his seven sisters made joyful memories playing in the fields and the hay loft. He enjoyed his garden, was an avid history buff, a true sports fan and took great pride in watching his son play ball and growing into the man he is today. Murf loved all of his nieces and nephews and was the best brother-in-law anyone could ask for.
During his tenure with Bridgestone Firestone he was an avid and loyal union representative for the local 998 of OKC and took great pleasure in his accomplished efforts of helping others.
Murphy had seven sisters who were the light in his eyes and he spent numerous hours talking with each one of them about their daily escapades. He had only one sister-in-law, Cindy, who was his “angel” for the last few weeks, and his mother and father-in-law who spent their hearts with him and his wife.
Murf was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jim and Clare Cunningham; brothers-in-law Charles Drew and Bob Mirch; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by Debbie, his wife of 35 years; his son Brian and his companion Amanda; his seven sisters and their husbands, Ellen and Rob Robertson of San Antonio, Texas, Sheila and Neil Springer of Holton, Ruthe Drew of Courtland Manor, N.Y., Pat and Russ Grecco of Cape May, N.J., Deborah and Bill Hawk of Effingham, Denise Cunningham of Effingham and Janice and David Moore of Columbia, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss their beloved uncle Murf.
Viewing and visitation was held Thursday, July 16 with a Rosary at Smith & Turner Mortuary, 201 E. Main, Yukon, OK 73099. Mass was held Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N. Grove Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73122. Our Murphy is in peace and will stay in our hearts and minds forever.
