Second Saturday Art Walk to feature Western theme

Jackson County Arts is hosting a Story Book Art Walk and Western Art Exhibit at the Hutchins Building on the west side of the Holton Square from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.

The story, “Cowboys And Cowgirls At Play: A Day In Their Life,” was written by Holton author Carol Totten and is illustrated by 12 local painters.  The exhibit consists of 16 pages of the book painted on two-foot by three-foot panels with the attached lines from the story.

In addition, Western-themed art by members of Jackson County Arts, as well as other local artists, will be on display. Artists interested in displaying pieces in the Western art show are asked to contact a member of Jackson County Arts. Refreshments will be served at the Hutchins building.

The Story Book Art Walk and the Western Art Exhibit are part of the monthly Second Saturday event. This month’s theme is Western Bonanza, and several downtown retailers are expected to stay open late that evening for the event.

Second Saturday events are sponsored by the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
