Meet Your Doctors: Dr. Benjamin P. Rutherford
Note: This is the 11th story in a series about doctors in our community.
Holton general dentist Dr. Benjamin P. Rutherford is a firm believer that taking care of your mouth and your teeth is one of the most important parts of staying healthy.
“The mouth is the entrance to the body,” says Rutherford, 34, who has been practicing in Holton for five years.
A native of Topeka, Rutherford said he was inspired to become a dentist by his uncle, Topeka dentist Frank Johnson.
Rutherford, who has been a practicing dentist for seven years, earned his bachelor’s degree in 2004 from Washburn University and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Rutherford says his favorite thing about practicing in Holton is his patients and their “laid back attitudes.”
“I really enjoy talking with and learning from them,” he said. “I have a passion for making a difference in my patients’ health and lives.”
Rutherford and his wife, Wendy, are both graduates of Shawnee Heights High School, and both attended Washburn University on athletic scholarships. Together they have three children, six-year-old Brooklyn, four-year-old Beckham and two-year-old Berkley.
In his free time, Rutherford enjoys golf and exercise.
