HCH Foundation gala to focus on "Denim & Diamonds"
A “Denim & Diamonds” gala will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Prairie Band Casino & Resort to raise funds for a medication management system for Holton Community Hospital.
Business and individual sponsorships for the gala, which is organized by members of the Holton Community Hospital Foundation, are still being accepted through the end of the month, according to Nicole Baum, HCH Foundation director.
Baum said the goal of the gala is to support the hospital by raising $35,000 for a Pyxis medication dispensing system for HCH’s surgical department.
“Having a Pyxis system in the surgery department will help play a role in delivering nursing care by improving medication safety, efficiency and accountability,” said Lori Williams, HCH director of outpatient care and surgery. “It will help prevent medication errors, allow faster access to medications and allow for real time inventory updates and also enhance documentation and tracking.”
Baum agreed.
“The overall goal is to be able to keep our patients local,” Baum said. “The more that we’re able to improve patient safety and improve our workflows, the more we’re able to keep our patients here for procedures.”
The “Denim & Diamonds” gala will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. that Saturday at the ballroom at the casino and resort.
“Last year we had a Kentucky Derby theme, and it was a lot of fun,” Baum said. “This year’s event will bring the sparkle of diamonds and charm of denim together in a Texas wedding- inspired celebration. It’s going to be a business casual event for people to come out, have fun and support the fund-raising efforts that we’re doing.”
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and bidding will begin for silent auction items.
Baum said that the HCH Foundation is still accepting donations for both the silent and live auctions at the gala.
