Commencement ceremonies slated in Jackson County area
As the school year winds to a close, so, too, do the school days for high school seniors, and preparations are under way for ceremonies marking the end of high school and the beginning of a new adventure for more than 230 such students in the Jackson County area.
For the 65 members of Royal Valley High School’s class of 2015, their ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. this Sunday, May 10, in the RVHS gym at Hoyt. This year’s graduating class is led by valedictorian Brandon Broxterman and salutatorian Leslie Schuetz.
Three commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, May 16. At 2 p.m. that day, the 12 members of Wetmore High School’s graduating class will bring their high school days to a close with their ceremony in the Wetmore Attendance Center gym, with valedictorian Alisha Heitz and salutatorian Keri Pfrang leading the way.
Then, at 4 p.m., a total of 45 Atchison County Community High School seniors will cross the graduation stage in the ACCHS gym. Kyle Kimmi and Jeremy Lutz have been named ACCHS co-valedictorians for this year, while Blair Fowler has been named class salutatorian.
At 6 p.m., the Holton High School class of 2015 will gather for commencement ceremonies in the HHS new gym. This year, a total of 80 HHS seniors will be graduating, it was reported.
Eleven members of the class will be honored for their academic achievements, including summa cum laude graduates Ashley Cook and Kelcie Matousek; magna cum laude graduates Garett Beecher, Tori Bontrager, Dean Klahr and Taryn Weilert; and cum laude graduates Paige DeLay, Maddie Reith, Braden Sides, Trey Tanking and Karl Wilhelm.
Finally, at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17, a total of 30 Jackson Heights High School seniors will graduate during commencement ceremonies in the JHHS gym. This year’s graduating class is led by co-valedictorians Jessica Keehn and Will Patterson and salutatorian Aidan Allen.
