City Commissioner Brenner files for House seat
Holton City Commissioner and area businessman Dan Brenner (Republican) filed Thursday for the 61st District seat of the Kansas House of Representatives.
The seat is currently held by Republican Becky Hutchins of Holton, who has not yet filed for re-election. Hutchins was elected in 2014.
District 61 includes most of Jackson and Pottawatomie counties.
Brenner currently serves as a Holton City Commissioner and recently filed for re-election to that position in the spring election.
He has owned and operated Diamonds by Design of Topeka for 15 years.
Brenner sought election to the Kansas House earlier in 2012 but lost in the primary election.
Candidates have until noon on June 1 to file for the general election, which is set for Nov. 8. The primary is Aug. 2.
