Cauy Phillips of the Denison Builders showed the top dairy beef steer in this year’s beef show. This all-other-breeds market steer, shown by Devin Bloom of the North Jackson Jets, was named reserve steer in its class and was the beef show’s rate of gain winner, picking up an average of 3.98 pounds per day between initial weigh-in and the show. Kolby Bowhay of the North Jackson Jets showed the top ultralight crossbred market steer. Shelby Phillips, a member of the Denison Builders 4-H club, showed the top lightweight market steer in this year’s Jackson County Fair beef show. Cailin Parks of the Straight Arrows showed the top heavyweight crossbred market steer, which went on to win reserve crossbred steer honors. Kailei Mitchell (right) of the Mayetta Mustangs showed the reserve grand champion market steer in this year’s beef show, a steer that was also named best in the all other breeds category. Shown with Mitchell is beef show judge Clay Toews of Powhattan. Cole Kucan’s Angus market steer was named tops in its class. Cole is a member of the Lucky Stars 4-H club. Miriam Halbleib of the Denison Builders won the showmanship, western pleasure and trail riding competitions for ages 7-9 at this year’s horse show. Sarah Halbleib of the Denison Builders was the top trail rider in the 14-18 age group. Jerilyn Nelson of the Pleasant Valley Rustlers showed the reserve grand champion mare and was named champion senior showman at the horse show. Presley Phillips, a member of the Denison Builders 4-H club, competed in events for ages 10-13 in this year’s horse show, winning top honors in junior showmanship. Dakota Abel of the Soldier Boosters showed the top two horses in this year’s horse show, the grand champion gelding, at right, and the grand champion mare. Cally Stephens won the walk-trot and horsemanship competitions in the 7-9 age group at this year’s horse show. She is a member of the Denison Builders 4-H club. Cash Robinson of the Lucky Stars won the intermediate showmanship category at this year’s horse show.
