Gregory Fiedler 1958-2025

Gregory Fiedler 1958-2025

Gregory Lee Fiedler, 66, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Holton at Anew nursing home.

Born on July 7, 1958, in Holton, Greg was the second oldest of Venita Kay (Haag) and Daniel Joseph Fiedler’s six sons.

Greg was a lifelong Holton Wildcat as part of the Class of ’78 where he was the designated kicker and place kicker on the football team, and remembered for his strong leg his junior and senior years.

He held closely to many fond memories in the community. From working cattle and swine with his grandfather Milton Haag, working every summer in the hay fields with his brothers, raising and showing swine with the Sunshine Winners 4-H club at the county fair to being raised in the church at St. Dominic, Greg was very proud and cherished his time here in Jackson County.

Greg graduated from Holton High School and enlisted in the Army in 1980. Stationed at Fort Riley, Greg was honorably discharged back to civilian life, then worked as a carpenter and residential plumber’s assistant in Topeka.

Greg lived for 35 years in Topeka, where he married Phyllis Ann Beals, and was a loving father to Adam Lee and Amanda Sue. He was a lifelong man of God and was rarely found without his scripture in hand. Greg will be remembered for his booming laughter, strong will, love for his Kansas City Chiefs, as a concerned, carrying and conscious man and very fondly by his family as Gregory Peck.

He is survived by his loving mother, Venita Fiedler, of Holton; son, Adam Lee, of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Amanda Sue (Wyatt) Thomas, of Bloomfield, Neb.; granddaughter, Nayla Sue Ann Thomas; five brothers, Michael J. and Bradley A., of Washington, Pa., Dennis J. (Sherri), of Washington, Pa., Warren D. (Rachel), of Virginia Beach, Va., and Todd D. (Jennifer), of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Daniel J., and ex-wife Phyllis.

Greg was laid to rest on July 8 with military honors at Mount Calvary Cemetery with his father following a small Christian service at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home. Memorials and special messages can be mailed to Venita Fiedler at the Fiedler family home at 12904 246th, Holton, KS 66436.
