Lane Lassiter of Mick’s Tree Service is shown above last Thursday morning on the roof of the home at 704 Pennsylvania Ave. in Holton cutting up a dead tree that had fallen on the home. The tree, a huge ash, reportedly fell victim to the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive beetle from eastern Russia and northeastern Asia that is now feasting on many ash trees in North America. Shayne Mick, also of Mick’s Tree Service, said it probably won’t be long before all of the ash trees in Holton are destroyed by the EAB. (Photo by David Powls)
