Weather Delays Construction At New Senior Housing Complex

Construction crews stayed busy on Tuesday morning getting foundations and storm shelters ready at Homestead Affordable Housing’s new senior duplexes and four-plexes, catching up on their construction schedule before rain began to fall that afternoon. Doug Bugner, construction supervisor for Accel Construction of Wichita, said colder temperatures in early spring and heavy rains later on combined to set construction about two months behind schedule, but for the time being, “it’s quit raining, so there’s some progress.” Bugner also noted that his crew plans to get started on construction of a road that connects the senior housing units “in the next few days.” (Photo by Brian Sanders)
