Panther Volleyball team tames Tigers

In its first home games of the season, the Royal Valley varsity volleyball team won both match-ups Tuesday against ACCHS.

“Even though we won, we are still working on our chemistry as a team,” said head coach Gary Armstrong.

In the first games against the Tigers, the Lady Panthers won 25-22 and 25-21.

During the games, the team had a few miscommunication issues, but the players rallied their defense and had several ace serves to help them finish strong.

After a break, the RV varsity players returned for the second match, winning 27-25 and 25-19.

Due to several injuries, the team rotated through just seven players during the matches.

“We’re running a little short, but we’re working through it,” Armstrong said. He also noted that senior Josie Matsapto is expected to return to the team next week following an injury.

RV is now 5-4 overall, and 4-0 in the Big Seven league. The will host Holton on Tuesday with games starting at 5 p.m.
