Robert and Lynet Purnell of Trimble, Mo., are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Amanda Lynn Purnell, to Luke Russell Dexter, son of Lyle “Cork” and Mary Dexter of Holton.

Grandparents of the future bride are the late Thomas and Mary Purnell, formerly of Omaha, Neb., and the late Blasé and Alice Vrbas, formerly of Stratton, Neb.

Grandparents of the future groom are the late Leslie and Lois Dexter, formerly of Netawaka, and the late Russell and Pauline Ireland, formerly of Holton.

Amanda attended St. Pius X High School and graduated from West Platte High School in 2004. She received her bachelor of science degree in mass media production in 2007 from Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. She will receive her master’s in teaching (secondary English) in December 2017. Amanda currently teaches seventh grade language arts at Bode Middle School for the St. Joseph, Mo. school district.

Luke graduated from Holton High School in 2000. He attended Washburn University and is currently employed as an electrician for Westhues of Kansas City, Mo.

The couple will wed on Oct. 8, 2016, at the Riverwood Winery Estate Vineyards and Tobacco Barn in Weston, Mo.
