Find real happiness in service to others
The year 2014 is almost completely over and the new year, 2015, is coming our way! Tell me. Where does all the time go?
If you are preparing for a new year - 2015 - count yourself among the lucky. Pinch yourself if you are not sure, but you are alive! Congratulations!
The new year, as the wise people say, is a good time to set goals for yourself and determine which dreams you will work to achieve.
The only thing holding you and me back from achieving our dreams is you and me. Your excuses. My excuses. Your lack of a vision. My lack of a vision. Your lack of will power. My lack of will power.
What can you (and I) do to become better, healthier, happier people in 2015?
There's no time like the start of a new year to re-evaluate your life and plan accordingly, so do it.
It won't be easy. Nothing worth achieving ever is easy. You will have setbacks. So will I. But the secret. I believe, is not to give up.
"If you can take it, you can make it'' is a line from the new movie called "Unbroken.'' I think that is true.
Happiness, that is another thing.
At the Hold Angels Catholic Grade School in Garnett that I attended for eight years, the road to happiness was made clear - service to to others. I think that is true.
As Albert Schweitzer, the 1953 Nobel Peace Prize Winner said, “I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.”
Here's wishing you a great 2015 filled with good health and loads of happiness.
